IM-FLEG training guide in English, original version
Following over 200 forest investigations as mandated monitor and the training of monitoring organisations over a decade, REM summarised its experience in a practical guide on mandated Independent Forest Monitoring.
The guide includes a description of major forest infractions in the Congo Basin, with specific examples from the region, how to detect each of those infractions, modes of formal interractions with enforcement services and technical reporting techniques.
The guide can be used by external monitors to increase the reliability of evidence collected and their credibility, by organisations interested in starting or understanding mandated monitoring, by law enforcement officers to improve investigation techniques, or by customs officers to understand different types of infractions documented in the Congo Basin.
